When we speak about Piedmont, we usually refer to Barolo and Barbaresco and Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour and a founding father of Italy, who was the first to import French wine-making techniques to our region. Nowadays these two “kings” of Italian wine vie on the international scene with the best production from across the Alps.
The Carnival of Ivrea is a historical event with a strong symbolic value, one of the most important carnival events in Italy. Characterized by its strong link with medieval traditions, the Carnival of Ivrea guarantees three days of pure folklore and fun.
THE BATTLE OF ORANGES - The battle of oranges is the most spectacular moment of the Carnival. Based on unwritten rules but shared by the participants, the battle is based on a role-playing game (the participants are divided into nine teams) and is a great example of civilization. All oranges used are not intended for sale.
According to Lonely Planet Ivrea and the whole Piedmont region is the first destination of 2019. In addition to the carnival you can visit the infinite beauty of the historic center of Ivrea.
